Be Verbs (Basic English Grammar)

"Be" verbs indicate a state of being. They must match the subjects. "Be" verbs are "am", "is", and "are". "Am" is used with "I". "Is" is used with "he", "she", or "it". "Are" is used with "we", "they", and "you". (Be verb ले verb वा कृयापदको अवस्थालाई संकेत गर्छ । English Grammar मा तिनीहरू Subject संग मिल्नुपर्छ । Be verb हरु "am", "is" र "are" हुन । "Is" सधैं "he", "she" र "it" संग प्रयोग हुन्छ भने "Are" सधैं "we", "they" र "you" संग प्रयोग हुन्छ ।

Some Examples of "Be" verbs ("Be" verbs का केहीँ उदाहरणहरु)

  • am a student.
  • am strong.
  • She is a teacher.
  • He is funny.
  • It is hot.
  • We are happy.
  • They are sad.
  • You are a clown.

"Be" verbs can be turned into negative sentences. Negative sentences need "not" after the "be" verb. (Be verb लाई Negative पनि बनाउन मिल्छ । be verb को पछाडी not थपेर Negative Sentence बनाउन सकिन्छ ।)

  • am not a student.
  • am not strong.
  • She is not a teacher.
  • He is not funny.
  • It is not hot.
  • We are not happy.
  • They are not sad.
  • You are not a clown.

"Be" verbs can be turned into questions or interrogative sentences. The "be" verb comes first in these sentences. They always end with a question mark (?). ("Be" verb हरुलाई प्रश्न वा शंकास्पद वाक्यहरुसंग पनि परिवर्तन गर्न सकिन्छ ।)

  • Am I a student?
  • Am I strong?
  • Is she a teacher?
  • Is he funny?
  • Is it hot?
  • Are we happy?
  • Are they sad?
  • Are you a clown?
